      FEEDING YOUR POMERANIAN PUPPY

Whatever the food-make sure it’s all natural-

NO BHA, BHT, or ETHOXYQUIN. Preservatives are toxic even in small amounts and are known to cause liver and kidney damage.

For tartar prevention-use Oxyfresh Oral Hygiene Solution in the water -1 tsp. per quart of water-as the ONLY source of drinking water. Call 1-800-223-7374-to order.

MORNING FEEDING: ¼ cup dry food-1 tbsp. canned food-Cover with water. Microwave for 2 minutes. Let soften. Stir in 1 TBSP. Cottage cheese. Note*-For very tiny puppies use Hill’s AD canned food.
MIDDAY FEEDING: Supplement the dry food (available at all times) with minced bits of cooked chicken or beef liver. Feed about 1 heaping TBSP. of this finely diced meat as a midday meal.
EVENING FEEDING: Golf ball size ball of premium quality canned food –Hill’s AD Diet or hamburger. Mix with 1 TBSP. of 4% milkfat cottage cheese (or serve the two separately)-then serve.

Take the puppy to potty soon (within ½ HOUR) after it eats-and reward it with praise and a treat when it goes potty.

Offer dry food & water throughout the day.

Pomeranian puppies as a breed are prone to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). DO NOT overtax the energy levels of your puppy. If you must be gone for any extended length of time (4 hrs. or more) be sure to give your puppy a 1 inch ribbon of Nutri-Cal or Nutri-Stat before you leave and as soon as you return home. It is a good idea to give this supplement daily as a dietary supplement to prevent any episodes of hypoglycemia.
SUGGESTED TREATS: Boiled Liver ( beef or pork) broken into small pieces & kept in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. Boiled chicken can also be cut into small pieces and stored in the refrigerator-but spoils quickly.

Choo Hooves and pig ears help to loosen the puppy teeth which may need removed by your vet at the age of 6 to 9 mos. old.

NU-VET PLUS is the best overall supplement (and treat) for the health of your puppy-and is a requirement for the first year of your puppy’s life.  It will help extend the healthy life of your Pom for many years.
